Dual Surface HOSTAPHAN® polyester films

Often the surface properties of a film play a vital role in its applications. Special optical effects like holograms require special surfaces. In other processes, the surface characteristics of HOSTAPHAN® are transferred to other materials. The static and dynamic friction of a surface can be specially designed to achieve sticking or slipping properties between two surfaces as desired.

Different layers together produce the desired optical effect.
Our “dual surface” films have two different surfaces that we can fine-tune independently of one another.

Typical applications for “Dual Surface” HOSTAPHAN® polyester films:
  • packaging
  • large sacks for products such as animal feed or soil
  • holograms
  • process film to create a particular surface structure

HOSTAPHAN® RD – Polyester film with one smooth, blocking side

One of the transparent film HOSTAPHAN® RD is very smooth and exhibits high static and dynamic friction (COF) as well as high gloss. The other side slips normally and thus allows easy processing. HOSTAPHAN® RD is approved for food contact in the EU and the USA.

Thickness range in µm: 12, 23

HOSTAPHAN® DOKO – Transparent polyester film with one very smooth surface

One Surface of HOSTAPHAN® DOKO is extremely smooth and glossy. This side is designed for gloss transfer processes. The 2nd surface provides the roughness required for good handling and winding.

HOSTAPHAN® MPK – One-side matte polyester film with high contact transparency

HOSTAPHAN® MPK is a coextruded 3-layer film with a rough and a smooth surface. The special layer design low a matte appearance together with crisp, high contrast printed images. The film is particularly suitable for reverse-side printing. HOSTAPHAN® MPK is approved for food contact in the EU and the USA.

HOSTAPHAN® MPKN – One side matte polyester film for stand-up pouches

HOSTAPHAN® MPKN was especially developed for use in stand-up pouches. As with HOSTAPHAN® MPK, one side is matte, the other smooth. HOSTAPHAN® MPKN is approved for food contact in the EU and the USA.

Thickness range in µm: 12

Available with chemical pre-treatment for adhesion promotion.
